The One Place Where Smelly Feet is Not a Laughing Matter

Chlorine - Get Rid of Smelly Feet
by Dr. Roseline Hamsley

For many generations different products with an active solution of chlorine added have been marketed as cures for foot smells. Chlorine by itself is a very reactive chemical that has a very strong and unagreeable suffocating smell, is a very strong oxidant and is used widely in bleaching and disinfecting.

For our purposes we are interested in chlorine’s ability to disinfect and clean. Please be-warned that using 100% chlorine on your feet is akin to pouring 100% acid on your feet, it is a very strong oxidizing agent that must be treated with care. The general rule is to never buy 100% chlorine and just buy products that have chlorine such as bleach.

In order to treat your feet for a long term solution, you could firstly look at the fundamental cause of your foot smells. If you are sweating too much at the feet consider using anti-perspirants, if your shoes are dirty and keeping all the odor causing bacteria to stay at the shoe then clean the shoe, if your socks aren’t clean or not dried properly then your problem could be there.

Disinfecting your feet with a chlorine based solution should be one of your weapons in the armory in the war against foot smells. It will only disinfect your feet but if other factors that cause the smelly feet in the first place aren’t attended too then it is highly probable that the foul smelling feet will come back again, and this time with a vengeance!
